  • 2 ripe Hass avocados peeled and pitted
  • 60 ml fresh lime juice
  • 1/4 cup red onion finely chopped
  • 1/2 jalapeño pepper seeded and minced
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro leaves chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 small ripe tomato seeded and diced for garnish
  • tortilla chips for serving

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Cut avocados in half, remove pits, and scoop the flesh into a medium bowl.
  2. Pour lime juice over the avocado to prevent browning and add tang.
  3. Mash the avocado with a fork or masher to your desired consistency.
  4. Stir in the salt and cumin until evenly distributed.
  5. Mix in the chopped red onion and minced jalapeño.
  6. Fold in the chopped cilantro until well combined.
  7. Taste and adjust seasoning with extra lime, salt, or jalapeño if needed.
  8. Transfer to a serving bowl, garnish with diced tomato, and serve immediately with tortilla chips.

Notes

Store in an airtight container with plastic wrap pressed directly on the surface to prevent browning. Keeps in the fridge for 1-2 days.
