Preparation and Assembly
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  2. Spread the cubed bread evenly in the prepared baking dish.
  3. Whisk together milk, eggs, heavy cream, dry mustard, salt, and pepper in a large bowl until smooth.
  4. Pour the egg mixture over the bread and press down gently with a spatula to ensure the bread is fully submerged.
  5. Sprinkle the diced turkey and turkey bacon evenly over the top of the bread mixture.
  6. Cover the dish with shredded cheddar cheese.
  7. Cover with aluminum foil and refrigerate for at least 8 hours or overnight.
Baking
  1. Remove the dish from the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for 30 minutes.
  2. Bake covered with foil for 30 minutes.
  3. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 20-25 minutes until golden brown and set.

Notes

Use day-old bread for the best texture. The casserole must be refrigerated for at least 8 hours to allow the bread to soak up the custard properly.
