Preparation and Assembly
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
- Spread the cubed bread evenly in the prepared baking dish.
- Whisk together milk, eggs, heavy cream, dry mustard, salt, and pepper in a large bowl until smooth.
- Pour the egg mixture over the bread and press down gently with a spatula to ensure the bread is fully submerged.
- Sprinkle the diced turkey and turkey bacon evenly over the top of the bread mixture.
- Cover the dish with shredded cheddar cheese.
- Cover with aluminum foil and refrigerate for at least 8 hours or overnight.
Baking
- Remove the dish from the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for 30 minutes.
- Bake covered with foil for 30 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 20-25 minutes until golden brown and set.
- Rest the casserole for 5 minutes, garnish with green onions, and serve.
Notes
Use day-old bread for the best texture. The casserole must be refrigerated for at least 8 hours to allow the bread to soak up the custard properly.
