- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 12-cup muffin tin.
- Whisk flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt in a medium bowl.
- Beat granulated sugar, brown sugar, and eggs in a large bowl until fluffy.
- Mix in pumpkin puree, oil, buttermilk, and vanilla extract until combined.
- Fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined.
- Beat cream cheese, sugar, egg yolk, and vanilla until smooth for the swirl.
- Fill each muffin cup with 2 tablespoons of pumpkin batter.
- Add a dollop of cream cheese mixture, then cover with another tablespoon of batter.
- Gently swirl the layers with a toothpick to create a marble effect.
- Bake for 18-22 minutes until a toothpick comes out with only a few moist crumbs.
- Cool in the pan for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
