  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup chopped walnuts optional

Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8x8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. Mash bananas in a large bowl until smooth and free of large lumps.
  3. Whisk in the melted butter, sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until the mixture is glossy.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined; do not overmix.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips and walnuts.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes until a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  9. Cool completely in the pan on a wire rack before lifting out and cutting into 12 squares.

Notes

Use overripe bananas for the best moisture and sweetness. Store in the fridge for up to 5 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
